Day Two

Today is HOT!  I know it's only June and it was only 85 and I have whole lot of July and August to survive, but this could be the downfall to my plans for the Summer of Fun.  I say this because I don't like hot weather and no matter how I try to rationalize it was hot out there today.  Today was not exactly what you'd call exciting, but we did get out and about and most importantly we used our 30 day CTA pass.  I don't know about anyone else, but I have this overwhelming urge to squeeze every drop out of the pass and use it as much as we possibly can.  This is by far not the end of the day, but the rest of our day involves making pasta salad and then going to a meeting.  I know meetings don't exactly fit with most peoples definitions of Summer of Fun, but I can't avoid it, so all I can do is hope to keep it to a minimum.  The Pasta Salad definitely fits in with the Summer of Fun, because cooking is right at the top of my list.  We're still not really getting much from the Garden, but when we do I hope the cooking will involve lots of things we pick.  So we trekked downtown again, this time to hit the craft store and pick up a few things and participate in the Michael's Passport to Fun Program which involves free international craft projects for kids in June and July.  Today was Sweden (which incidentally might fit in well with our theoretical plans for friday.)  and paper dolls were made, also we got the first item for the hat swap which is a foam Swedish Flag.  Of course the Hat Swap meant we needed a new hat and since I'm on an "iron-on" binge it also involved a new patch for the hat.  Luckily we were in a craft store and all of that was accomplished without much fuss.  From there two more errands, including getting the tickets for our planned trip to Taste of Chicago and then it was back on bus and heading homewards.  Didn't I mention it was hot?  But hey we took two different buses in two directions each.  I have a feeling that I'll be seeing a lot of this during our Summer of Fun:

That would be Meghan reading on a bus
