Day Twelve

Today was supposed to have temperatures in the 90s and the storms that rolled through last night were violent with large hail and they continued to roll through this morning.  Somewhere around late morning we lost power.  So it was time ot lay low.  Meghan proudly finished reading the final Harry Potter book and in celebration of my finally finishing Philip and Elizabeth(sometime after midnight last night I should add) I read the next installment of the Penderwicks before Meghan started reading it herself this afternoon.  After laying low most of the day we ventured out to discover that it wasn't really unbearable and we headed downtown (by bus of course) to meet up with my mom.  The bus on a friday afternoon of a holiday weekend while the Taste of Chicago is going on was a very very slow process so we bailed walked a block east and hoped on a el train for a few stops.  The train dropped us off a few blocks further than where the bus would have but the walk was reasonable and it took us past the Blackhawks Store.  We met my mom at work and had dinner with her and headed home late.
